While the 2019 Aero Warrior Reunion kicked right into high gear, after the Atlanta Motor Speedway experience, things slowed down for the group on Day 2. Under a blue clear sky, Friday featured a private, invite-only event, base camped on the idyllic rolling hills surrounding Tim and Pam Wellborn’s country estate, near Alexander City, Alabama.
Scores of vintage Mopar, Plymouth and Ford machines rumbled in the property and descended to the grassy fields, setting up parked amongst the house, trees, bushes and other natural surroundings. Guests and participants mingled about, talking history, their cars and the track experience from the day before. Food was served as well as a wine tasting and special appearances by guests like Bobby and Donnie Allison. As evening fell, live music commenced courtesy of an Elvis-impersonator.
Grand Unveiling: Marty Robbin’s 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona
Part of the day’s excitement involved the unveiling a 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, campaigned by country music singer, Marty Robbins.
Next Stop: Alexender City
Slowly but surely, the passionate bunch concluded the day, packed up their things and headed back to their lodging. A full night’s rest is necessary for what comes tomorrow: an invasion of downtown Alexander City and the Wellborn Musclecar Museum. With all the classic Mopar, Ford and Plymouth muscle on display and available for public display, it will make for a truly world-class show.
