Getting enthusiasts ready to stand out this spring, MINI is releasing a spunky special package for their convertible. It’s called the Sidewalk and will be available in March. The name and package was last seen in 2008.
This new version receives exclusive Deep Laguna metallic paint, highlighted with two stripes on the hood. Should customers not care for the shimmering blue, they can choose from five other exterior colors. There’s Midnight Black metallic, White Silver metallic, Enigmatic Black metallic, Moonwalk Grey metallic and Thunder Grey metallic. No matter which color is selected, the mirrors caps always come painted body color.
One of the more striking elements included in the Sidewalk is the fabric soft top, which includes a unique woven checkerboard-like pattern on the roof. Other exterior adornments include 17-inch light-alloy Scissor Spoke wheels in a two finish and special side scuttles. Those are the bezels around the side turn signal lights on each front fender, which also get a Sidewalk logo.
Into the Blue
Moving inside, there’s brushed aluminum door sills, special trim and a leather-wrapped sport steering wheel compete with package logo. The seats are covered in anthracite-colored leather and given contrasting yellow and blue seams. In addition, there’s blue-colored braided piping and the “Sidewalk” logo.
Hitting Its Stride
Standard features on the Sidewalk include LED headlamps, LED fog lamps, the interior lighting package as well as the MINI Driving Modes, automatic air conditioning, a height-adjustable front passenger seat and a storage package.
No powertrain upgrades are included but three engines are available. The standard transmission is a six-speed manual but a seven-speed Steptronic transmission with double clutch is optional.
MINI hasn’t released pricing or availability on the special package, which will be available worldwide.
