Canadian vehicle armorer, INKAS, has a long list of luxury vehicles they’ve outfitted for protection and now a new one joins the ranks. A 2020 Lincoln Navigator L can now be had with their suite of enhanced security features offering occupants the ultimate in protection. The SUV’s elongated L trim was chosen because of the long-wheelbase, offering extra interior room.
The vehicle retains all the comforts it left the factory with, including power-reclining captain seats with massage, heating and cooling capabilities, illuminated running boards and a Revel Ultima 20 speaker surround system. Under the hood, the twin-turbocharged 3.5L engine is retained, its 450 horsepower enough to move the bank vault-like behemoth.
Security Upgrades
Where things get interesting is what INKAS adds at their Toronto, Ontario facility. The vehicle’s ceiling and floor get full-perimeter ballistic protection while the sides feature premium multi-layer ballistic glass.
To handle the extra weight of the added components, the suspension is upgraded while runflat tires are installed, too. Hidden in the grille are emergency lights and a siren and public address system let outsiders know this thing is rolling through. There’s extra protection for vehicle vitals like the battery and ECM while the door hinges and other ‘critical structure points’ are reinforced for maximum protection.
Ultimate Protection
All told, the armored Navigator delivers BR6-level protection. That means that it can handle attacks from 7.62x51mm or .308 Winchester FMJ ammunition should those be things you encounter in your commute. It also can withstand explosions from not one but up to two hand grenades that are detonated simultaneously.
For customers wanting even more, additional options can be tacked on like light-weight armoring, heavy-duty wheels and even a fire suppression system.
Pricing hasn’t been announced but the company reports they have some in stock and are ready to outfit them for any customers’ rough and ready scenarios.
